1. Counselling Conundrum: a real question from a patient

2. Concise Conclusion: a straight-forward patient-friendly answer

3. Quick Wrap-up

Clearly, there are nuances that may not be captured in this format. The goal here is to provide you with helpful counselling tips which often draw from multiple sources or those which are not commonly accessed by busy healthcare providers serving the community.

Counselling Conundrum: "My child never remembers to take their methylphenidate in the morning because it's quite busy at that time. I know you can't take those medications at night, but they have tried other options and stimulants work best. What can we do?"

Concise Conclusion: Fortunately there is a new version of methylphenidate that comes in a delayed release capsule, that you take in the evening, and it's only released in the morning; I think that would be our best option to try.

Quick Wrap-up: Check out our cue card for this med (Jornay PM) for other pearls, like when to give it and how to switch from regular methylphenidate.
